Candy is one of the most common food temptations, but it has two great enemies: diets that restrict calorie intake and compromise the health of teeth and teeth as they are considered the number one cause of cavities.
In fact, the first cause of this dental ailment is incorrect and infrequent brushing, because if sweets were totally excluded from the diet, and we did not brush our teeth properly, cavities would end up affecting us as well.
Certainly, sweets are potentially dangerous because they increase the acidity of saliva and with it decrease the natural defenses of the mouth creating a gap that is used by bacteria that generate a very large amount of destruction in the next twenty minutes, the time it takes for saliva in reestablishing its neutrality.
If in that time we eat another candy, and another, and another ... we will prolong the process and without realizing it, in two or three hours we will have caused an acidity capable of generating cavities that, in two or three months could ruin with a grindstone. On the other hand, it is important to avoid sticky sweets, as well as those that remain in the mouth for a long time such as chews, chewing gum, lollipops, gum, etc. Those that contain natural fats or oils such as peanuts, walnuts, chocolates, unsweetened popcorn, and above all, fruits are preferable if you do not have to follow a rigorous diet.
In short, we must not absolutely discard the sweets from our diets or that of our children, we only have to consume healthy ones and brush our teeth in the 20 minutes after they are eaten.
