Colic in an infant is one of the eternal problems. In many circles it is identified with an inefficient digestion process. Although there are many more reasons for colic (read), let's focus on this one.

The digestive system of a small person is still very delicate and does not tolerate many things, usually proteins. A popular protein flaw or slightly milder protein intolerance is the body's response to lactose. Doctors are reluctant to talk about protein flaws - why?

Because there is a tendency for mothers to immediately stop feeding and switch infants to artificial hydrolysates.

Modern preparations have very good compositions, but it is known for a long time that nothing can replace natural food, so it is better to exclude from the diet a mother who is feeding protein of cow origin and continue breastfeeding.

Protein intolerance symptoms and colic in an infant

In the first month of life, the child eats breast milk and sleeps most of the day. It happens that after a month there are some disturbing signals that may indicate that we may not be dealing with ordinary colic, but with intolerance to proteins (these include: dry skin, flaky skin on the eyebrows and behind the ravioli, a rash reminiscent of "prickly heat", colic that occurs very quickly after eating - symptoms can appear incidentally and individually or accumulate almost every time - an individual thing).

When does colic appear in an infant?

Both in healthy children and in small allergy sufferers colic may appear at any time and it is important to know what to do then.

Muscle relaxation

The thing is to relax your baby's muscles. How? When my daughter was getting seizures with her partner, we read various tips on various sites. Effect?

We learned that you need to massage the tummy. Bravo! Innovative and revealing! We know - massage helps once, sometimes it doesn't. In the case of my daughter, it was a protein flaw, so I could only massage my ears (the scream of the baby could ruin the day), because the tummy did not seem happier than the massage.

We decided to check for ourselves what would help get rid of spasm. For a good reason, we figured that since we are dealing with muscle spasm, then you would have to relax them. The easiest way is a bathtub with warm water, but no one with a healthy understanding will not always tach your toddler into the bathtub.

Second approach: hot water bottle. For the very characteristic smell of rubber and the option: "something is on my stomach" little got spasms.

Is it a dryer? An idea stupid, but when a child cries a round hour, no idea seems idiotic enough not to try it. 3, 2, 1 - turn it on! Warm air flew, the salutary hum of the dryer filled the room and ... the baby floated away. This is it!

Colic in an infant and the salutary power of a dryer

From then on, a stream of warm air was directed at her daughter about half the day. Electricity bills were exotic, but a moment without crying is worth every zloty.

The dryer should be directed directly on the lower part of the baby's tummy, being careful not to burn it, overheat it or boil it. There was a time when we "dried" the baby for almost the whole day, and as soon as I turned off the dryer, the blissful warmth and uniform noise disappeared, the baby woke up and the same again ... Several times we found ourselves sleeping with the dryer.

The technique is good and really works, you just need to be careful about the distance and temperature of the heat flux. We put the dryer on the changing table, which lay on the cot, directed the heat stream directly to the lower parts of the tummy and "dried" at least as little as possible so that it would sleep well. In fact, it was the only way that helped with strong colic.
