When they decide to choose courage, self-confidence and parental preparation first trip with a baby for a holiday by the sea. Some decide to travel with a few weeks old baby (usually with a second child), others wait until the baby is at least half a year old. If the child is developing properly and we are well prepared for the trip, there are no contraindications to going with a baby for several weeks.

Cranky baby?

Of course, there is no guarantee that a child will sleep sweetly in a gondola and an older child will admire the world in a stroller, but there is a great chance that a different climate will appeal to the toddler. Generally, because the seaside climate is good for children, and unless the sea is hot, toddlers usually feel good in a climate where:

  • higher pressure promotes oxygen absorption,
  • sea air saturated with iodine is good for the baby's respiratory system,
  • microclimate has a positive effect on allergy sufferers and children who often catch a cold,
  • the sea air is clean and fresh. There are no pollen or other pollutants that are typical of the cities, affecting the respiratory system,
  • sun in reasonable doses can help children suffering from psoriasis,
  • under the influence of sunlight, vitamin D is produced in the skin, which is necessary for calcium absorption,
  • crawling and running on the sand by the sea is perfect relaxation for tired feet,
  • pediatricians recommend holidays on the Baltic Sea also to those who eat.

New impressions

Holidays at the seaside should last at least a week, preferably two weeks. Ideally, if we can spend three weeks on it. This time is necessary so that the children can get used to a different climate. In addition, you have to reckon with the fact that children get tired quickly and even the usual conditions for an adult: the sound of the wind, the sound of the waves and the sun shining stronger can give the baby so much experience that the child after going out for an hour or two to the beach will become strenuous. You have to go back to the room and give the child time to rest in more familiar conditions.

Swimming in the sea

When can you let your child swim in the sea? Most specialists maintain that a six-month-old child can splash with the parents in the Baltic Sea. Such a bath will have many benefits: it has antibacterial, antifungal properties, also allows temper the body. However, in this case you also need to ensure safety: always rinse the baby's skin with a bottle of water or a beach shower after bathing to remove the rest of the salt.

Carefully

Going to the beach with a small child you have to be careful. Especially newborns and babies may have a problem with thermoregulation (they quickly overheat and cool), so you need to check your neck on an ongoing basis to see if your child is too cold or too warm. It's best not to go for a walk by the sea from 10am to 4pm. During this time, you can take a walk in the nearby park or forest.

Remember to apply to your child's skin creams with UV filters. The baby should be smeared with creams even when we plan to stay in the shade.

Not only the sunny weather should motivate parents to protect the baby, but also heavy rain or strong wind.
